Light shining through a window! But is there more? Light shining into darkness! I don't know about you, but I yearn for the light. Darkness usually makes me uncomfortable. But take still another look, and this time notice not only a window, not only the light but notice the shadow created by the light beaming through the panes. There it is - a cross! It’s a vivid reminder of the cross of Jesus Christ that sets us free from sin and shame!
In everything we do at Florence Baptist Church, we pray that we live Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (NIV) In worship, in Bible study, through music and missions, in small groups and large, our prayer is that the light of Jesus Christ shines forth and that people are drawn to the light and to the cross and resurrection.
Then notice what happens! As we experience the light, that is as we walk and talk with Christ each day, each of us becomes the window. The light shines through us! The light beams through our words and deeds, through our families and friends and even through our struggles and hardships. As the light shines through us, others experience the love of Christ and in turn become a window through which the light shines.
Jesus says, “You are the light of the world.” Let the light shine!!!
